Why doesn't the finish gate beep?

Gates ‘Beep’ when they are armed, not when they are triggered.

Example

In a sprint with gates at say 0, 10, 20m , the BEEP on the finish gate sounds when the athlete triggers the 10m gate, thus arming the 20 m gate.
